Descriptive statistics focuses on numbers and calculations that summarize raw data into hopefully logical and solid conclusions.
However, while there are common mistakes that could be made, there’s also a lot of room for deception: Deceptive statistics.
It is in fact quite common to deceive with statistics, by describing the truth in specific manners that make it seem not as bad as it actually is.
الإحصائيات الوصفية ترتكز على أرقام وحسابات ملخّصة للبيانات الخام, حتى نحاول (أملًا في النجاح) الوصول إلى استنتاجات منطقية وسليمة.
ولكن الحلو لا يكمل. هناك طبعًا بعض الأخطاء الشائعة التي يقع بها المرء, ولكن يوجد فرع بالكامل مخصص “للخداع” بالإحصائيات: الإحصائيات الخداعية.
الخداع بالإحصائيات منتشر أكثر مما تتصورون. هو بالأساس شرح للحقيقة من وجهات نظر مربكة قصدًا لا تُظهر الحقيقة بأكلمها, سواء كان بالموجب أو السالب.
